Saipua

Saipua means “soap” in Finnish. It is also the creative home of artist and educator Sarah Ryhanen and her collaborative network. Established in Brooklyn, NY, in 2006, Saipua is devoted to the dual crafts of flower arranging and soap-making.

Since 2011 Saipua have lived and worked out of The Farm at Worlds End: 107 acres of rocky clay soil, 40 miles west of Albany on ancestral Mohawk land. There they explore the balance between work and enjoyment, our relationships to time and economy, self, land and community. They also produce a variety of olive oil soaps, upholding a tradition started by Sarah’s mother in 1999.

Each soap combines olive, coconut, and castor oils with shea butter and blissfully scented essential oils.
